Shihan Jean-Charles Wälti
6th Dan, Aikikai Tokyo

Aikido School in Hampton Park
Chesterfield, Virginia

"The Aikido dojo is a sacred place where we train ourselves to purify our lives and to polish our body and our heart. It is the place of the Way, of the honorable life where we train to the technique of the circular and splendid dance that creates the current. It is bad to learn fighting techniques to wrestle with others and to have the spirit to kill. You should choose the Way carefully, because the training will take all your life."

Aikido is a martial art that was created by Morihei Ueshiba. It is a series of fluid and continuous movements, in which all the rigor and realism of fighting are present. The person that attacks is guided by a projection or an immobilization to a place where there is no danger. There is no kicking, no punching and no competition in Aikido. This martial art is not based on strength and can be practiced by men, women and children of all ages.
